What is life coaching (and what is it not)?
Life coaching is an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performance and enhance the quality of their lives. - (International Coaching Federation, 2007)
What’s the difference between coaching and other professions such as therapy, counselling, or psychiatry? While there are similarities – including the use of the same behavioral, cognitive and social models and theories – coaching focuses on the client’s knowledge base.
As a life coach, I trust that you’re capable of making wise choices and creating your ideal life using your own insight. With other professions, the client typically relies on the professional for answers, strategies, and to identify challenges. Coaching helps you identify your challenges yourself and discover your own answers and strategies. Coaching focuses on your present circumstances and helps guide you to your future goals.
Coaches and clients choose each other. Any time during or after the Discovery conversation, if either of us feels that the client/coach relationship isn’t a good fit, we can end the relationship then and there. If you’re still interested in working with a coach, I’ll try to connect you with one you’re more comfortable with.
I’m not here to teach you, although learning will occur. Nor is my job to mentor you or diagnose traumas. I’m simply a resource to guide you to the güd part.
Why should I consider life coaching?
This is a question you must ask before exploring life coaching. People who benefit from coaching are typically at a crossroads in their life, or feel they’re stagnant and running out of options.
You might benefit from coaching if you
● Are unsure about your path, goals, mission or simply wonder, “What’s next?”
● Have a complex, complicated physical, emotional, mental and spiritual life filled with “stuff.” Coaching helps you sort through the “stuff,” get rid of what no longer serves you, and re-organize.
●Seek motivation to begin or complete a project.
●Need guidance as you brainstorm a major a life decision.
How much does life coaching cost?
Since I’m a student, my coaching fees are significantly reduced. The fee for each 50-minute telephone session ranges from $50 - $60. I ask that the fee is paid before each session.
How do I get started?
Contact me to set up an appointment for the Discovery conversation. The Discovery conversation is the springboard for each coaching/client relationship. We use it to explore your values, intentions and goals. This initial conversation is very important, as it determines whether you and I, coach and client, are a good fit. This conversation lasts about an hour and is free of charge.
